Pandemic H1N1 2009

Clinical Management of Swine Flu Pandemic

Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 also known as Swine Flu, is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. Other countries, including Mexico and Canada, have reported people sick with this new virus. This virus is spreading from person-to-person, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread.

The Clinical Management of Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 resource (See below) has been produced to be used as a guide for GPs in the management of patients with presumptive or confirmed infection with Pandemic (H1N1) 2009. It should be read in conjunction with current advice on the diagnosis of the infection, as well as resources available concerning the current pandemic phase and the focus of investigation, treatment and public health measures at the time.
