eHealth PIP
In March 2009 a new eHealth PIP was announced to provide incentives that aims to encourage general practice to improve the quality of care provided to patients through keeping up-to-date with latest developments in eHealth.
The eHealth PIP has three requirements;
1) secure messaging capabilities
2) individual and location PKIs
3) access to key electronic clinical resources.
A PIP payment of $6.50 per Standardised Whole Patient Equivalent (SWPE) per year (capped at $12,500 per quarter) will be available to practices that meet the requirements of the PIP eHealth Incentive.
Up-to-date information on the eHealth PIP requirements can be found on the Medicare PIP website: http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/provider/incentives/pip/index.jsp#N10009
