The Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) has congratulated and thanked GP down south for showing leadership and tireless work during this COVID-19 pandemic to keep Australians safe.
“We are delighted that the work and effort put in by all staff at GP down south has been recognised and acknowledged by a national organisation”, said CEO, Amanda Poller. “We have demonstrated an ability to react swiftly to the needs of our clients and with the hard work of our staff, pivoted quickly to ensure a smooth transition while continuing with our exceptional service.
At the beginning of our emergency planning, GP down south had three main aims which were guiding us in our decision-making processes: 1. To look after the health and wellbeing of our staff and their families and reducing as far as possible, the likelihood of infection as the situation continued to evolve; 2. Causing the least disruption possible to service delivery to our clients; and 3. Taking action to support slowing community spread of the virus.
The Board of the MHFA said, “We once again thank and congratulate you for all that you do for our great nation.”
MHFA works to deepen understanding of the importance of mental wellbeing. Educating the community about available treatment options for mental illness is a large part of our brief, but our primary emphasis is on promoting good mental health and the means to maintain it. The Foundation’s work has been fundamental to changing community attitudes and raising awareness of the importance of good mental health.
GP down south is an exemplary not-for-profit community organisation. We have been providing health and wellbeing services in the Peel regions and the South West of WA since 1994.
