Three members of the Busselton staff from the Mental Health and Chronic Conditions teams attended the Equally Well Symposium in Melbourne recently. Did you know that the life expectancy of people living will a mental illness is lower than the rest of the population?
The vision of Equally Well is to improve the quality of life of people living with mental illness by championing physical movement as a mechanism to bridge the life expectancy gap between people living with mental illness and the general population. Our Mental Health team reported that making the physical health of people living with mental illness a priority at all levels will lead to better outcomes and improvements for both the physical and mental health of clients.
GP down south is looking at ways we can implement some recommendations from the Symposium within a collaborative and co-designed framework.
GP down south is an exemplary not-for-profit community organisation. We have been providing health and wellbeing services in the Peel regions and the South West of WA since 1994.
