October is Mental Health month across Australia. October 10 – 17 is Mental Health Week in WA. On the final run of a challenging year, Mental Health Week gave us a reason to celebrate our workplaces and communities. We embraced the I 2020 Mental Health Week theme -Strengthening Our Community – Live, Learn, Work, Play. 2020 has brought into sharp focus the need we all have to be part of a community. We are at our core social. So our teams developed and participated in events in the community to showcase where we live, learn, work, play. Busselton: In partnership with headspace Busselton & the City of Busselton, we held a day of yoga, music and walking. All free for the public to attend. Sponsorship from the WA Association of Mental Health and Lotterywest enabled us to provide yoga, lunch and the annual Jetty Walk. Manjimup: Down South Aboriginal Health participated in a Wellness Expo at the Wellness Centre in Manjimup where yoga and tai chi demonstrations were offered - along with other activities throughout the day. Mandurah: Nidjalla Wangaan Mia and staff from the Peel Health Hub took to the foreshore to participate in Wellness Wednesday.
GP down south is an exemplary not-for-profit community organisation. We have been providing health and wellbeing services in the Peel regions and the South West of WA since 1994.
