7 MONTHS, 7 CHALLENGES, 1 MOUSTACHE, 1 REASON In May with 5 days notice Luke Johnstone decided to shave his beard, leave the mo and start a fundraiser for the remainder of 2020. The first challenge was a 100 mile run in 24 hours. WHY ? To raise awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention. To show people that people do care, people are there to reach out to and to show that people will do crazy things to let you know that your life counts and that your mental health can improve giving you an amazing life ahead.
The second challenge was a walk around Mandurah, enabling everyone to get involved. On Saturday 4 July, Luke and a band of supporters set off from the Peel Health Hub for a 24 hour ‘around the bridges’ walk. Anyone out getting their 30-minutes of exercise was invited to join in for 30 minutes or 3 hours. We were delighted when Luke chose PYMS as the recipient of his fundraising.
Luke’s plan is to complete a challenge every month for 7 months to raise awareness and funds for mental health. Keep up with the journey and the follow the mo, get involved and any donations however big or small are welcome. So far, over $3, 000 has been raised.
