On Friday 21st June curious minds of all ages gathered to recognise Peel’s best and brightest at the second annual Peel ESTEAM Awards Ceremony. The ceremony was held at John Tonkin College in Mandurah and attended by 120 community members and special guests. It featured music and inspiring speeches from Mayor Rhys Williams (City of Mandurah) and keynote speaker Professor Lyn Beazley.
The Peel ESTEAM Awards celebrate the best of achievements in the Peel region in Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (ESTEAM) – all areas that are critical to make sure we thrive in the future world and workforce. Finalists included young entrepreneurs, excellent educators, citizen scientists and science communicators.
There were five awards categories that recognise achievements in ESTEAM education, science communication, citizen science, as well as an overall ‘Young ESTEAM champion’ and ‘ESTEAM Champion’ to award educators, mentors, volunteers, artists and entrepreneurs who inspire curiosity and lifelong learning in others.
