Staff from mental health and chronic disease programs across the South West region came together on Wednesday 2nd December on the Busselton foreshore for a team building exercise. Teams of four or five were given a set of clues and set off around town with the aim of answering the most number of questions correctly and completing some challenges. Everyone learned something – even the locals! The day was a success in bringing together the mental health and chronic disease teams who often find crossover in their clients. They racked up over 8000 steps each!
Mental ill health and chronic conditions often walk hand in hand. 80% of people with mental ill-health suffer from serious physical health condition. The team building day enabled staff to get to know each other better, meet new team members and engage in a bit of friendly rivalry. In 2019 we signed up to the Equally Well Consensus statement to reach equity in health care and improve the quality of life for people suffering from mental illness.
