Article courtesy of the Coastal Times 16th January 2019 South Yunderup resident Caitlin Elphick (22) has been nominated in the Woolworths Youth Group Achievement Award category of the 7 News Young Achievers Awards for young people showing strong leadership ability.
Ms Elphick has been involved as a youth committee member of Peel Youth Medical Services (PYMS), where she originally went as a patient and later joined the committee in an effort to give back to the community and ensure medical and mental health activities were maintained and improved.
She has been instrumental in planning and helping design the PYMS facility, showing innovation in designs so youth enjoy a welcoming and calming environment.
Ms Elphick also included ideas for ensuring those with social phobias and anxiety would feel comfortable in the facility.
According to her nomination, she has shown leadership in attending, promoting and suggesting activities and promotions encouraging youth to use resources such as PYMS.
She has attained double diplomas and Certificate IV in laboratory techniques.
