Youth Week 2023

21/4/2023

I've got some exciting news to share with you all. Yesterday, the Peel Health Hub services got together to celebrate Youth Week 2023. And let me tell you, it was a blast!

First off, a huge shout out to the Lions Club Falcon for cooking up some delicious sausages at the sausage sizzle. And we can't forget about Woolworths Singleton for donating all the yummy food and drinks. Without their generosity, this free community event wouldn't have been possible.

Now, let's talk about the event itself. Not only were there free sausages and drinks, but there were also plenty of free activities to take part in. People could learn the art of origami, play games, and even join in on drumming sessions. And if that wasn't enough, there were icy poles to keep everyone cool and refreshed.

One of the highlights of the day was the Natures Own activity, where we got to safely view the hybrid solar eclipse. It was truly amazing to see and a great reminder of how beautiful our world is.
But let's not forget the main reason we were all there - to learn about the services that the Peel Health Hub offers. For those who don't know, the Peel Health Hub is a collective of health services working together to provide comprehensive care to the community. We offer a range of services including mental health support, AOD support, vocational training and much more.

The Youth Week event was a perfect opportunity to showcase these services to the community and to celebrate the amazing work that the Peel Health Hub does.

The event was well attended, and it was fantastic to see so many young people come out and learn about the services on offer at the Peel Health Hub. For those who couldn't make it, let me give you a rundown of what we offer. The Peel Health Hub is a one-stop-shop for a range of health services, including mental health support, sexual health services, drug and alcohol support, and more. We also have a fantastic team of health professionals who are passionate about helping young people stay healthy and happy.

Our mental health services include counselling and therapy, with a focus on early intervention and prevention. We provide support for a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, and stress. Our sexual health services provide access to free and confidential testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), as well as contraception advice and support. Our drug and alcohol services offer support for people who may be struggling with addiction, including assessment, counselling, and referrals to specialist services.

If you missed out on yesterday's event, don't worry. The Peel Health Hub offers these services all year round and is always welcoming new patients. So if you're in need of any health services, or even if you need to chat to someone, you can drop in any time. Our aim is to provide a safe and supportive space where young people can access the help they need to lead happy, healthy lives.

Overall, yesterday's Youth Week celebration at the Peel Health Hub was a fantastic day filled with fun, food, and learning. It's always great to see the community come together and support each other, especially in times like these.

A final shout out needs to go to the amazing staff at the Peel Health Hub who put in a huge effort in the lead up to the day and on the day.  So once again, thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and here's to many more successful Youth Week celebrations in the future!
